thunderbolts budget:

The film’s production budget is estimated to be between $150 million and $200 million

Marvel Studios‘ film Thunderbolts is not performing as expected at the Indian box office. On the second day, the superhero film earned around Rs 2.25 crore, taking the total collection of two days to Rs 6 crore.

Though the film is an important part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it did not receive a strong response from the audience in India.

Day 2: Rs 2.25 crore

Total: Rs 6.00 crore

After a dull opening of Rs 3.75 crore on the first day, Thunderbolts needed some momentum on Friday. However, the second day’s drop, even if not much, indicates that the film may have stabilised in the underperforming zone, indicating limited interest from the audience.

Film Cast and Story

Directed by Jake Schreier, Thunderbolts stars Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and others in lead roles.  The film is the story of a group of antiheroes who are sent on a dangerous mission that could lead to their redemption. The absence of major MCU stars, such as Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr., is perhaps one of the reasons for the audience’s indifference towards this film.

Box Office Performance

The film’s tepid response is in line with the broader trend of Hollywood films struggling at the Indian box office in 2025. Films such as Captain America: Brave New World and Disney’s Snow White also did not perform well earlier this year. Interestingly, only Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar drew crowds.

It seems that Indian audiences are flocking to cinema halls only for big films such as Nolan and James Cameron, while ignoring other offerings.

Global Box Office:

Marvel’s Thunderbolts is off to a strong start at the global box office! The film is projected to earn over $175 million worldwide in its opening weekend. In the United States, it’s expected to bring in $70–75 million, while international markets could contribute $90–100 million.

Thunderbolts Prediction

With weak opening weekend figures, Thunderbolts is facing a tough challenge in India. While it may show some stability in the days to come, prospects for its box office performance are bleak.  If it doesn’t get an unexpected weekend surge, the film could become one of Marvel’s quieter performers in India.

In other parts of Asia, such as China and South Korea, Thunderbolts’ earnings are similarly limited. In parts of Europe, such as Italy, the film is also performing slow. In the US, the film’s estimated launch weekend gross is between $70 and $75 million, although it is facing competition from other films.
