Ground zero budget:
The 2025 Indian action thriller film Ground Zero features a strong ensemble cast and was made with a budget of ₹50-70 crore
Interestingly, there is also a 2025 Indian action thriller film titled Ground Zero, which was released on April 25, 2025. The movie, directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar, revolves around a BSF officer’s mission to eliminate a terrorist mastermind. It stars Emraan Hashmi, Sai Tamhankar, and Zoya Hussain
Emraan Hashmi’s latest release Ground Zero has raked in around Rs 5.20 crore in its opening weekend at the box office. An early report by Sacnilk has made similar claims.
The film had a modest opening on Friday (April 25), earning Rs 1.15 crore. Saturday saw a marginal rise in the collections at the ticket window, earning around Rs 1.9 crore. The business improved further on Sunday (April 27), with the film earning around Rs 2.15 crore as per early estimates.
Despite a gradual rise over the three days, Ground Zero’s overall performance was disappointing. It ended its first weekend on a decent note. The film now faces a tough challenge to maintain its momentum in the coming weeks.
According to box office predictions, the film was touted to be one of Hashmi’s weakest openings in the post-COVID era, coming in second only to Chehre which opened with just Rs 50 lakh. The film grossed Rs 2.05 crore in its first week.
Directed by Tejas Deoskar, Ground Zero is based on a true incident that revolves around the 2003 anti-terror operation that led to the elimination of Ghazi Baba, the mastermind behind the 2001 attacks on Parliament and Akshardham temple. Emraan plays BSF commandant Dubey, which is being described as his best and most controlled acting to date.
Opening to low buzz and mixed reviews, the film faced tough competition at the box office from previous releases like Akshay Kumar’s Kesari 2 and Sunny Deol’s Jaat. It remains to be seen if Ground Zero gains momentum with positive promotions in the coming days or fades away quickly. On Thursday (April 30), the film will clash with Marvel superhero film ‘Thunderbolts’.
